OTHER INFORMATION

Other Information: Yale Security Point is an upmarket and reputable store with a distinctive image that stands alongside the major retail chains. Yale Security Point franchise stores specialise in retailing a wide range of security and related products, which are of the best available. The product range is extensive and includes Alarms, C.C.T.V. Systems, Electric Fencing, Gate and Garage Automation, Intercom Systems, Locks, Safes, Remote Controls and Self Defence Products, Two Way Radios, to name but a few. The products are at the forefront in the technology field and are constantly being updated.

The stores are primarily aimed at, and cater to, home owners wanting to address their own security needs, as well as individuals looking for the assurance of purchasing their security needs through a reputable, branded and franchised outlet. This is one of the main reasons why Yale Security Point franchisees are prohibited from installing security products or systems for their clients.

Most of a Yale Security Point franchisee's business is generated through ''over the counter'' sales to end-users. In all of the franchised outlets, a certain amount of business is generated through providing products to security companies specialising in security Installations. Yale Security Point  franchisees are able to supply profitably to security companies because of the extremely competitive pricing of Yale Security Point products.

Yale Security Point 's strict code of conduct and commitment to customer service has distinguished it from other outlets in the security industry.

Yale Security Point  has focused on a growth market and Yale Security Point concentrates on locally manufactured products, thereby keeping prices down and stock levels consistent.

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS

The success of Yale Security Point is due to the strict adherence to a combination of key success factors.

Yale Security Point has a stringent selection process, ensuring that any potential franchisee matches the ideal profile for a successful franchise owner. Further to this, every potential franchisee undergoes a thorough Business Verification Programme to test the viability of a potential franchised outlet, prior to committing to the franchise.

Yale Security Point  has strict location criteria and area protection for the franchisees, to ensure that each store gets the maximum market exposure and the least potential market dilution.

Through diligent up-front analysis, research and planning, Yale SecurityPoint ensures that every franchisee is correctly financially geared to earn the maximum return on investment and Yale Security SA Pty Ltd promotes the success of every franchisee through a strong support infrastructure.

PROFILE OF THE IDEAL FRANCHISEE

In purchasing a franchise or any business, it is important to ensure that you are suited to the business, or that the business is suited to you.

For Yale Security Point  you need to have an entrepreneurial spirit, as this is your own business, but you must also be prepared to work within the strict parameters imposed by the franchise system.

It is important that your franchise is correctly financially geared. Yale Security SA Pty Ltd does not want franchisees that have borrowed so much money to start their business that they end up effectively ''working for the bank''. The actual establishment cost of each franchise varies, due to a number of factors, typically the price can range between R 560,000.00 to R 810,000.00 but the ''rule of thumb'' is that you should have between R 300,000.00 to R400,000.00 of your own unencumbered funds. You should also have collateral for roughly the same amount.

Your ''people skills'' are important. Yale Security Point is a retail business and therefor your ability to comfortably communicate with customers, as well as your staff, is important. Background experience in retailing is preferable, but it is not critical.

Previous own-business experience will certainly be of benefit, but it is not a necessity.

A successful franchisee will possess or develop adequate marketing and sales skills.

A Yale Security Point franchisee needs to be presentable and ''believable''. Yale Security Point stores sell products to protect the lives and homes of families and individuals. Customers must believe in the integrity of a Yale Security Point store's owner.

THE YALE SECURITY POINT PACKAGE

Yale Security Point offers the franchisee a comprehensive business package, including Store design and set-up, site location, lease negotiation, business and product training and assistance with raising finance if required as well as ongoing support and advise. This enables the franchisee to enjoy the independence of running their own business, secure in the knowledge that they are backed by a sound operational infrastructure.
